Today, tumour tissue dissection is a painstaking, manual process. Pathologists pen-mark Regions of Interest (ROIs) on Hematoxylin & Eosin stained slides. Laboratory technicians then translate these ROIs visually to dissection slides, manually scraping the tissue and placing it in small containers. This exposes samples to (cross-) contamination.
Around the world, laboratory technicians are also hard to come by, posing scalability constraints for pathology labs and research centers. Xyall’s Automated Tissue Dissection (ATD) solution digitizes and automates the tissue dissection workflow and enables accurate Region of Interest (ROIs) determination and dissection.
Our solution scans Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) stained slides and dissection slides at the right magnification, helping the pathologist detect ROIs more easily. These ROIs on the H&E stained image are then automatically transferred to the dissection slides using the latest image registration technologies.
Once ready, dissection slides are scrapped automatically at high precision by a robotic dissector. The tumour tissue is finally moved to small containers, ready to be placed in the DNA/RNA lysis buffer.
